Before toilet paper was invented, people used household objects, including newspaper, leaves, corncobs—and even the Sears catalog!
In 1901, seven men from Green Bay and Milwaukee pooled their life savings to launch the Northern brand.
Quilted Northern® has a history of innovations. The brand was the first to offer tissue on a roll, the first to offer a splinter-free product, and the first to offer sterilized bath tissue.
In the 1950s, the brand first introduced the "Northern Beauties." The prints soon became collectibles, and even today, the brand is using a precocious young girl as the face of Quilted Northern®.
In 1992, Northern Tissue became Quilted Northern®, a new product that combined softness and strength.
Since 2004, the Quilted Northern® brand has been partnering with Susan G. Komen for the Cure in the fight against breast cancer.
In 2008, the first 3-ply bath tissue launched: Quilted Northern Ultra Plush® bath tissue.
Quilted Northern® has been producing quality toilet paper for over 100 years!
The Quilted Northern® paper mills now produce enough tissue to wrap around the Earth's equator 1 1/2 times—every day!
