RENO'S QUILTED NORTHERN SOFT & STRONG® CHAMPION - BOBBI GILLIS

Soft and Strong Champion - Bobbi Gillis Bobbi Gillis is the 2011 Quilted Northern Soft & Strong® Champion for the Susan G. Komen® Race for the Cure event in Reno on Sunday, Oct. 2. Gillis is a volunteer for the Susan G. Komen Reno Affiliate and is a two-time survivor of breast cancer.

After losing her mother to breast cancer, Gillis learned the importance of early detection. She was first diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 38. After surgery, chemo and radiation treatments, she was in remission until she was diagnosed for a second time in December 2010. Today she is on the road to recovery, determined to share her story and educate women about the importance of early detection, which she believes saved her life.

"To most people cancer is a scary word. Once you can get past the diagnosis it's important to know about all the treatment options for various forms of cancer and to know that it is treatable," said Gillis.

As part of her role with the Susan G. Komen Reno chapter, she serves as a member of the speakers bureau, sharing her story with others.

Bobbi and her husband are the proud parents of four children and currently reside in Reno.

Georgia-Pacific is proud to call Bobbi Gillis a Quilted Northern Soft & Strong® Champion.
